For The Person Who Dines Out

Here's a card that actually rewards you -- generously -- for eating out. It offers a sign-up bonus of 35,000 points, but we generally recommend waiting for a special offer on all Amex cards, which can go as high as 60,000 for this card. Amex points can be redeemed toward travel, gift cards, statement credits and more. Where this card really earns its keep is for foodies: You earn 4x points at U.S. Restaurants and 4x points at U.S. supermarkets. You'll also get up to $220 in combined annual statement credits -- $120 toward dining and $100 toward airfare. There are no foreign transaction fees with this card.

With this card, you're actually getting that $250 annual fee back -- and then some through redeeming all the points you will be racking up every time you eat out or grocery shop. Throw in that $220 in statement credits, and this is a card worth strongly considering.

Bottom Line

Grab this card when you are in the right spot on your 5/24 rule and there is a special offer. Yes, there is a $250 annual fee. But if you use the $220 in credits, it might be a card worth keeping for the 4x grocery store spends. All depends how much you like Amex points.
