If you missed Chase's ridiculously generous sign up bonus of points PLUS a one-year companion pass, then this can be your savior card. You will need this card along with another one of the Southwest cards to reach the 110,000 points for a Companion Pass. But with this welcome bonus alone, you’re over half way there. Remember when you qualify for companion status you'll get that status for the remainder of the year in which you qualify PLUS the whole next year as well. So it’s best to get it at the beginning of the calendar year.
You’re More Business Than You Think
Yup, even you. Thanks to the wave of Lyft, Uber, Poshmark, Ebay, etc. we are all really proprietors in a sense and therefore should apply for this card. Remember to use your (tax ID) number when applying. Beware though: this card doesn’t count toward your Chase 5/24, but you will not be approved if you’ve opened 5+ cards in the past 2 years, excluding certain business cards.

Southwest Limited-time Bonus Offers Right On Time
Some of the best offers ever are available on every Southwest card. If you are looking to earn the companion pass, just be sure you time things out properly considering these three factors (1) You'll probably need to qualify for one of the business cards, and based on that not counting towards 5/24 you probably want to start there (2) You'll have to be nearly past the 24 month bonus rule to get a personal Southwest card (3) You can spend, but don't qualify for the bonus until your January statement at the earliest.
