Why You Might Want This Card
The SouthWest Business Card To Get
Let's face it: you need 125,000 points to get the coveted Southwest Companion Pass status. But you have to strategize because Southwest has rules... rules like, you can only get one sign up bonus per 24 months on a Southwest card. Thankfully, you can skirt that rule by getting one personal card and one business card. That said, this is probably the business card you want because this one card gives you a standard sign-up bonus of 70,000 points after spending only $5,000 in 3 months. That's well past the half-way mark needed for a Companion Pass. Besides the points, this card reimburses you several ways: Reimbursement for 4 upgraded boarding passes annually, putting you in the A1-A15 group (first group to board). Reimbursement for Inflight WiFi. And reimbursement for Global Entry or TSA Pre Check every 4 years.
Check out our Southwest Rapid Rewards page for more details on how to best use Southwest Points.
Bottom Line
Yes, this card has the highest annual fee of all the current Southwest cards. But with this one card, you'll be close to getting your Companion Pass. And you get reimbursed for all kinds of goodies, not to mention you get a gift of 9,000 anniversary points annually. Take that with the valuable traits of Southwest -- like 2 free checked bags and no penalty to change or cancel your flight -- and we think if you haven't reached your 5/24 Chase rule yet (and you haven't collected a bonus on a Southwest business card in the last 2 years) it's time you apply for this one.
Application Rules
This business card will not show on your personal credit report, so it won't count against your 5/24 status
Your application will be declined if 5 new cards are reported on your personal credit report in the past 24 months
You'll be declined if you apply for a third Chase card of any kind within 30 days
Chase will decline your application you apply for a 5th Chase card (personal or BUSINESS) in 6 months
What to Know Before Canceling
This is our favorite card to keep if you use Southwest at least once a year since the annual fee is generally tax deductable. You don't need this card to keep your Southwest points.
