The Highlights

The Qatar Privilege Club is the loyalty program for Qatar Airways. The program features 2 separate currencies: Qpoints and Qmiles.

Qpoints are earned by flying with Qatar or any of its partner airlines and are used to improve your elite tier status. There are 4 tiers: Burgundy, Silver, Gold and Platinum. As you move up in tiers, you’ll earn additional perks, including lounge access and free excess baggage.

Qmiles are used to book award flights. You’ll earn Qmiles by making purchases with Qatar’s airline, hotel, car rental and other partners. You can also earn points on credit cards that can be transferred to Qatar. Qmiles can be transferred from Citi Thank You Rewards at a rate of 1:1, from Capital One at a 2:1.5 rate and from Marriott at a transfer rate of 3:1.

Qatar is a member of the Oneworld alliance, so your Qmiles can be used with partner airlines, which include American Airlines, British Airways and Cathay Pacific, to name a few. Qatar also has partnerships with a few other airlines outside of the Oneworld alliance.

Note that when booking a flight with Qmiles, you’ll be charged a booking fee of $25 for economy, $50 for business class and $75 for first class per flight.

Bottom Line: The Qatar Privilege Club is ideal if you fly often on Qatar Airways. But since the company is part of the Oneworld alliance, your Qmiles can also be used with other major airlines like American Airlines, British Airways and Cathay Pacific.
