The Highlights

Wells Fargo cards earn Go Far Rewards. And that’s their aim: to stretch those points as far as they’ll go. Earning comes from shopping, booking travel and keeping an eye out for special offers. Depending on the card you end up with, you can earn up to 5x points on gas, grocery and drugstores, which isn’t too shabby and brings in much more than the average return on most cards.

When it comes time to redeem, you can spend rewards on travel, gift cards and online auctions and products. Utilize the Wells Fargo portal to book flights at up to 1.5 cents per point. And look for local deals through the portal, where you can earn big while you’re taking care of normal business.

Perhaps the most attractive thing about Go Far Rewards is the fact that you can pool points. You’ll need a Pool Owner -- obviously someone you trust -- who will have access to all the points and can do what they choose with the cumulative tally. You’ll also need the Pool ID number to start pooling. With just that information, you can go on the Go Far Rewards website and gift or collect anyone’s points. (As a side point, when gifting your rewards, they'll be valued at the “receiver's” level, not the “gifter's.” So if you hold a higher value card and receive points from someone holding the Propel card, for example, the gifted points will be automatically received at your higher value.) You can also gift your rewards as cash to others if they hold a Wells Fargo account. The Pooling and Gifting is really what sets Wells Fargo apart from the rest. It's not a great option if you have no interest in combining rewards -- but an awesome perk if that’s what you’ve been looking for in a rewards system.
