The Highlights

Barclay is more of a niche bank in this hobby, but they have some great partner cards. Barclay seems to use a combination of factors in approving or denying cards, so hard and fast rules don’t tell the whole story.

Here are some factors to be mindful of:

Your first Barclay cards seem more likely to be approved than second. Nearly always will you want to cancel one of the first two before attempting to open a third.
They look for consistent recent spending on existing cards for approval on a second. Spend for at least two months before applying for a second card.
Too many cards in the last 24 months is used, but depending on other factors, that number could be as high as 6-10 before being denied.
They use TransUnion (Same as Chase & Bank of America) for credit report. So the fewer pulls there, the better your chance of approval.
